Our network charges
Scanpower is an electricity lines company. We use our network of overhead wires and underground cables to deliver electricity to homes and businesses in our area on behalf of electricity retailers.
We charge electricity retailers directly for these delivery services on an amalgamated basis and they then decide how best to pass these costs through to customers on their power accounts.
The revenue we receive is used to:
- Operate, maintain and improve our assets so that we can support the long-term electricity needs of our customers and community.
- Provide 24/7 outage and emergency response services.
- Meet the costs we incur for connecting to the national transmission grid, and industry levies we pay to the Electricity Authority and Commerce Commission.
- Cover the general running costs of our business.
- Pay a dividend to our owners, the Scanpower Customer Trust.
Our full schedule of network charges and our annual network pricing methodology disclosure can be found under Network Pricing on our Publications and Disclosures page.
ERANZ has launched a new online resource to assist consumers struggling with their electricity bills. This resource provides information on available support options and guides on how to access further details online.
